Unpacking the Chaos is an illustrated zine that shares my journey
exploring the world of design. With an accordion-fold, printed
format, I wanted to create something tangible, interactive, and
engaging.
As I began to unpack my thoughts, I am faced with my own thoughts, questions
and beliefs
I carry with me wherever I go...
As I begin to acknowledge my flaws, I also see my strengths. I realize
they shape both me as a I designer.
I slowly began to uncover
why I design,
what it means to me and what keeps me moving forward on this
path.
Design like life, is
an ongoing journey.
This zine represents my attempt to navigate and explore my journey,
with all its ups and downs.
My goal
wasn't to resolve the chaos,
but to embrace it and find a peaceful and meaningful way through
it
My Process
I journaled my thoughts and make quick sketches to visualize them. I
used illustrations and comic-book style thought bubbles to explore
ideas.
I began to explore my ideas, my thoughts— who I am as a designer, my
dreams, my struggles, and what makes me a designer.
I used the accordion book style to present my illustrations in a
free-flowing and interconnected way, depicting the ongoing journey
where each phase seamlessly flows into the next.
Final Thoughts
Designing this zine taught me a great deal about developing design
concepts, creating illustrations, and storytelling through visuals.
I felt proud of the end product.
Translating my digital work from screen to print and folding it
accordion-style was certainly challenging. After multiple trials and
errors, I finally succeeded in producing a zine that I loved and was
proud of!
